Requesting Tissues

As the pollen count begins to rise, the kids will be needing tissues for the well documented Atlanta allergies.  I will give 5 Palmer Dollars for each box of tissues that is donated to the class.  Thanks so much!

We're winding it down!  Over the next 3 weeks, students will be studying many topics related to Astronomy.  This is covered in Chapters 19, 20 and 21 in the textbook.  Students will learn about the planets, meteors, comets, big bang theory and many other topics related to space exploration.  There will be a final project that the kids will complete in class.  Some may choose to do extra work at home, which is fine.  Any extra effort will make their presentation that much better.  They will receive instructions for their project on Tuesday, May 6th.

Stay tuned for updates on upcoming quizzes or tests.  Students may find additional information by using www.ask.com in order to reinforce what is being learned in class.

Warm-ups

Warm-ups Warm-ups are used as a tool for students to acclamate themselves to the subject that is being presented in class. These are provided on the board and are expected to be completed when class begins on a daily basis. Most of my quiz and test questions are taken directly from the warm-ups, so this activity could also be used as a study guide for quizzes and tests. I will be providing a spiral notebook for every student and it will be kept in their binder for daily use.

Mr. Joseph Auriemma

Welcome to my blog!  It's truly a pleasure to be teaching at Palmer Middle School and I'm excited about the new school year.  I have been working towards a career in education since 2002 and I am transitioning from industry through the "TeachGeorgia" program.  I love science and hope to share what I've learned and experienced over the last 15 years with my students.

Mr_a

I live in Canton with my wife and my 3 daughters.  I have lived in the Atlanta Metropolitan area for approximately 14 years.  I am originally from Florida (Tampa Bay area) and went to Pinellas Park High School in Pinellas Park, Florida.  After High School, I moved to Gainesville and attended Santa Fe Community College and The University of Florida for 3 years.  I was also a member of "The Pride of the Sunshine", University of Florida Fightin' Gator Marching Band for Steve Spurrier's first 2 seasons as Head Coach.  GO GATORS!!!!

After moving to Georgia, I attended Kennesaw State University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology in December, 1996.  After graduation, I worked for CryoLife, Inc. in Kennesaw for approximately 8 1/2 years.  I worked both as a Donor Screening Supervisor and in the company's Regulatory Affairs Department.  During that time, I earned a Master's of Science in Quality Assurance from Southern Polytechnic State University.  After CryoLife, I worked at CIBA Vision Corporation in Duluth.  I was employed as part of their Quality Assurance department.
