26. If you exert a force, do you always do work?  Explain why or why not.  11-9-07  No. In order for work to be done, an object needs to be moved in the direction the force is exerted on it.

27.  Pivoting on a fulcrum, this simple machine generally is a rigid bar.     11-12-07  Lever

28.  Why ar simple machines important?  11-13-07  They allow you to exert less force and make work easier to perform.

29. How does a larger inclined plane make work than a shorter inclined plane? 11-14-07  The  shorter plane causes you to exert more effort because the ramp is at a higher angle than longer inclined plane.

Homework - Tuesday, 10/23/07

Pyramids were given out to students to complete on Newton's First, Second and Third Laws of Motion.

This assignment will be due on Wednesday, October 24.

Newton's First Law of Motion can be found on page 316 in Science textbook; Second Law of Motion on page 320; and Third Law on page 332.

Notebook Check - Friday, October 26

On Friday, October 26 I will be taking up the notebooks for a notebook grade.  This is equivalent to a test grade (40% of final). All four sections of the notebook will be turned in to me along with the Table of Contents.

I will be available each morning this week from 8:00 until 8:45 for anyone needing extra help to organize their notebooks.  I will also be available after school on Wednesday, October 24 from 4:30 until 6:00 for extra help also.
