For those that may not know me my name is Melissa Cosgrove. I am an 8th grade Physical Science and Math teacher at Palmer Middle School. This is my 8th year teaching, all of which have been at Palmer.
I am a transplant to the south. I was born in Chicago and spent a few years each outside of Boston and Hartford before moving to Marietta in 1990. I am proud to say that I am a product of Cobb County Schools. I attended Garrison Mill Elementary for two years before moving on to Mabry Middle School. My high school years were spent at Lassiter High School under the leadership of our former Superintendant, Mr. Fred Sanderson, who was the principal at the time. I graduated from Lassiter in 1999 with Ms. Bobb, 7th grade math teacher here at Palmer.
In the fall of 1999, I began my freshman year at The University of Georgia. Those of you who know me even a little, know that I am a huge fan of UGA, especially UGA Football!! I have missed only a handful of home games since my freshman year began and look forward to the fall every year for more college football.
I am the middle of three children. My older brother is a PE teacher at Brumby Elementary School and my younger sister is working on her PhD in accounting at the University of Alabama.
I am an avid traveler and have been fortunate enough to travel outside of the US many times. After my senior year of high school, I went on a singing tour through Austria, Switzerland and France with the Lassiter chorus.
During the summer of 2006, three other teachers and I took a group of students to Italy and Paris, France.
I love science, especially Biology, and could not ask for a better job. I look forward to going to work every day and love helping students understand what can be a pretty difficult subject for most people.
