Welcome to Mrs. Esserwein's homeroom!  There are a lot of things you can accomplish in this short amount of time!

1.  Breakfast
Breakfast is from 8:45-9:05 A.M.  Students may ask for a breakfast pass to go to the cafeteria and eat breakfast!  Students may not bring food out of the cafeteria.  Breakfast is a great way to start your school day so if you forgot to eat at home, take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

2.  Locker Breaks
Homeroom is when students get prepared for their day!  Students have a chance to go to their lockers and gather their materials for first and second periods.  Students will have a locker break after second period to gather their materials for third and fourth periods.  At the end of fourth period students have a locker break to gather their materials for the end of the day!

3.  Absentee Notes
When your child is absent from school, please send a note explaining his/her absence.  Those notes get turned in to our attendance office.  Per Cobb county policy, if your child is absent 5 days, I will be calling home to remind you of your child's absences from school.

4.  Bus Passes
If your child is going home with a friend who rides another bus, please send a note with their friend's bus number giving your permission.  During homeroom your child needs to go to the attendance office to get a bus pass.  Bus passes are not handed out after 12:00 P.M.  The bus driver will not allow your child on their bus without a bus pass!

5.  Early Dismissal
If your child is leaving school early, please send a note so I can send your child up to the attendance office for an early dismissal pass.  This way your child can show this to their teacher and will be able to leave class a few minutes early to gather their belongings and be at the front office when you arrive to pick them up!  This saves you from having to wait and you can get to your appointments on time!

Welcome to Earth Science!  My name is Mrs. Esserwein and I have been teaching for ten years!  Teaching runs in my family as my husband is the band director at Sprayberry High School and my Mom used to be a middle school teacher.

I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia.  I graduated from Walton High School in 1991 and attended Berry College in Rome, GA.  After earning my B.A. in psychology from Berry I went to Georgia State University and earned my B.S. in middle grades education.  Then in 2002 I graduated from Kennesaw State University with my masters in middle grades education.

I started teaching sixth grade science at Pine Mountain Middle School and taught there for two years.  I moved over to Palmer when it opened and taught seventh grade science.  After completing my gifted endorsement, I returned to sixth grade to teach advanced content science and have been doing so for the last three years.  I love teaching science and enjoy challenging my students with various labs, projects and class activities!

I have been married to my husband for six years and we have a beautiful little girl, Sarah, who is almost 3!  She definitely keeps us on our toes as she is quite the active toddler!  In my spare time I enjoy reading, going to the movies and spending time with my family.
