Welcome to Earth Science! My name is Mrs. Esserwein and I have been teaching for 13 years! Teaching runs in my family as my husband is the band director at Sprayberry High School and my Mom used to be a middle school teacher.
I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. I graduated from Walton High School in 1991 and attended Berry College in Rome, GA. After earning my B.A. in psychology from Berry I went to Georgia State University and earned my B.S. in middle grades education. Then in 2002 I graduated from Kennesaw State University with my masters in middle grades education. Last, I completed my educational specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University last summer, focusing on curriculum and instruction.
I started teaching sixth grade science at Pine Mountain Middle School and taught there for two years. I moved over to Palmer when it opened and taught seventh grade science. After completing my gifted endorsement, I returned to sixth grade to teach advanced content as well as regular science. I love teaching science and enjoy challenging my students with various labs, projects and class activities!
I have been married to my husband for 9 years and we have a beautiful little girl, Sarah, who is almost 6! She definitely keeps us on our toes as she is quite the active child! In my spare time I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, traveling, walking/hiking, going to the movies and spending time with my family and friends.
