Welcome to my blog. I am a seventh grade teacher at Palmer Middle School. This is my ninth year at the school. I have been teaching for 29 years. I attended Emory University, Georgia State University, and Kennesaw State University. I am certified k-12 in Spanish, have an ESOL endorsement, and a Master's degree in middle grades education with a math area of concentration. This year I am teaching three on-level math classes and one enriched math class. `
I am originally from Wichita, Kansas but have lived many places because my father was in the military. I moved to Atlanta in 1961 and have lived here off and on since then. My husband and I have five children and seven grandchildren. My oldest son is a graduate of the United State Military Academy and is currently a major in the U.S. Army serving in Stuttgart, Germany. My oldest daughter is a teacher at Kell high school where she teaches Spanish. One of my daughters lives in South Carolina, and one in Louisiana. The youngest lives in the Marietta area. Spending time with my grandchildren is one of my favorite pastimes. They range in age from 13 years to 1 year. In addition to these family members, my mother is 83 and lives south of Atlanta.
Along with spending time with my family, I enjoy traveling, reading, crocheting, going to movies, and spending time with good friends. I teach an English class at my church each week also. I have had the privilege of going to Kenya three times and this summmer I got to teach English and math in a Kenyan school. What a challenge that was!
This is going to be a great year as we work together to help all of the students be successful.
