Week of January 30th

  •  On Monday, we'll finish the reading assessment quiz and start the next set of vocabulary stems.
  • On Tuesday and Wednesday, students will take the state's technology assessment online. We'll share those results as soon as we receive them to let students know their level of preparation.
  • Thursday and Friday we'll continue our discussion of technology and introduce a research assignment. Students will have a vocab quiz on Friday.

During the second semester, students will have a heavier workload with at least one or more homework assignments per week. While grade recovery will be available during the 3rd quarter, it will be limited. It is important that students stay on top of their assignments, due dates, tests and quizzes.

Students who are absent should click on "Assignments" for anything that may be available via the blog or email mary.stillerman@cobbk12.org for directions.

 BrainPop: Main Idea & Supporting Details

 Syllabus:

  • Download ELASyllabus
  • Students will maintain a digital portfolio of writing and coursework on Cobb County School District's password protected blended learning platform, Blackboard. Students will be given a log-in and password and will give ePortfolio access to their parents (students will need the parent's email for this).
  • Students will maintain an Interactive Notebook. See the Interactive Notebook page for a running table of contents.

Supplies:

  • Blue and black pens and #2 pencils. Students must bring writing utensils to class daily.
  • Students will need a spiral bound notebook (70-count page minimum, 3-hole-punched) for Language Arts. They are expected to bring this to class each and every day, use it only for Language Arts, and not remove any pages from it.
  • A two-pocket folder (prongs are not necessary)
  • Glue sticks (to paste handouts into notebook)
  • Filler paper (150 page count; college-ruled) to leave in classroom.
