We begin our unit on Canada with a Canada Quest. Students are investigating the historical background of Canada's indigenous people, colonial past, and revolutions. Daily Agenda: March 17, 2008

Language Arts: Students received new vocabulary words today. Our root word is "cap" Students are still working on their Grammar Pyramid in class. No Homework other than studying your words.

Social Studies: Students continued work on their tiered assignment for Latin America's Legacy (Aztec and Inca to Independence). Students should be working on this at home also, in order to keep up. We will have 30 minutes of class time to continue the project work on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday is the test. I'll post a study guide on Tuesday.

Response to Literature

Dragon_5A dragon terrorizes a kingdom and a cobbler's three sons attempt to slay the dragon. Discover the fate of the cobbler's sons and the kingdom.

We started our Response to Literature unit with a dramatic reading of Dragon, Dragon by John Gardner.

  • Have you ever had to tackle a difficult problem? How did you do it?
  • What qualities do you think a good ruler should have?
  • Why did the author give certain qualities to each of the Cobbler's sons?

Daily Agenda: March 5, 2008

Language Arts: continue working on your vocab quilt. These are due on Friday. Third period: If you haven't completed your "compare and contrast" draft, please do so tonight for homework. You will revise and turn in  your final version tomorrow.

Social Studies: No homework. The kids did a FANTASTIC job today on graphing demographic data. We will analyze the data tomorrow and make generalizations about standard of living in Latin America.
