K.L.U.B. Karnival

We had a great time at the K.L.U.B. Karnival!  Students performed their "Reading Process Raps," everyone played games like Destiny Relay, Book Buzz Bingo, and Are you smarter than a Reading Bowl Member!  We look forward to more good times in the future!

K.L.U.B. Karnival and Community Night

To encourage reading for pleasure at home and at school, we have planned a Karnival and Community Night on Tuesday, October 27th, from 6:30-8:00 pm!  Flyers went home with the students on Wednesday but it is also available here.

We will have games like Book Buzz Bingo, Destiny Dash Relay, Are You Smarter than a Reading Bowl Member, Twister Trivia, and more!

Our feature presenter will be Tommy Johns performing his "I Love to Read!" program including magic, music, and audience participation.  Please visit his website for more information: www.tommyjohnspresents.com.

We will also have representatives from the International Welcome Center and the Public Library.  A story time will be provided for younger kids so all families and community members are welcome.  Finally, we will have the Scholastic book fair open for purchases.

We look forward to seeing everyone Tuesday night!

Welcome to the K.L.U.B.!

K.L.U.B., which stands for Kids Loving and Understanding Books, is a new reading incentive program!  One of the state standards says that students will read 25 books in a school year.  So we implemented K.L.U.B. as a way of encouraging and rewarding students for reading.

We kicked off today during Language Arts classes so students can begin reading books, writing summaries, and earning privileges.  Attached you will find the Power Point presentation shown to the students today, the book summary forms, and the reading log (in Publisher and Word formats).  If anyone has questions, please let me know!  Otherwise, we look forward to you joining the K.L.U.B.!
