Mrs. Scamihorn's Language Arts Classes

Welcome!

This is my third year with the Palmer family and I am loving it here!  During my 20 years of teaching, I have taught 6th and 7th grades in Cobb County at Smitha Middle, Floyd Middle, Garrett Middle, and four years traveling as a Literacy Coach for the county, serving multiple schools.  I even taught one year in Ft. Washington, Maryland at Lord Baltimore Academy.  I have a B.A. degree and a Master's degree in Middle Grades Education from Kennesaw State University.

As a Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project Fellow for the past 11 years and past teacher consultant for the Cherokee County Writers' Guild, I have a very strong writing background.  My experience as a district-wide CRISS trainer has served me well to help academically struggling students, and my past experience as co-director for Middle Grades Honor Program at KSU Continuing Education has helped me understand the gifted child as well.

I try to stay on the cutting edge of educational strategies and I'm always looking for new ways to better my instruction.  Finally, writing is my passion, and I hope to make it a passion for many of your children as well!

My classroom rules are few and simple:
1.  Be respectful to everyone in the classroom.
2.  Don't talk unless given specific permission by me.
3.  No gum, candy, or toys in the classroom.
4.  Be on time to class.
5.  Always do your best on every task.

If your child needs extra help, please contact me to set up a time before or after school for a help session.  If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.
